Of Monsters and Men, the Icelandic indie quintet, released their debut album My Head Is An Animal in fall 2011. It topped the Australian ARIA Charts while peaked at number three on the UK Albums Chart and at number six on the Billboard 200. The album was very well received by rock fans and critics. On the commercial side, the album garnered a platinum certification in most countries. Some of the singles from the album include “Dirty Paws,” “Mountain Sound,” “King and Lionheart” and the alternative rock chart-topper “Little Talks.”
Another rock band that will headline the birthday show is the American alternative rock band Death Cab for Cutie. The brainchild of front man Ben Gibbard debuted in 1998 with their studio album Something About Airplanes. Since then, they have released over half a dozen studio albums, five EPs and fifteen singles. Three of their albums have charted among the Top 10 of the Billboard 200. Seven of their singles have peaked in the Top 10 of the Billboard Alternative Songs chart.
The rock band is popular nationwide and internationally for their diversity in musical style. They have been labeled as frontrunners of emo, alternative, indie pop and indie rock. Death Cab for Cutie have a long list of singles that have been featured in hit television shows and movies such as Six Feet Under, Californication, Wedding Crashers and Easy A. For the Philly radio party, they will be playing music from their latest 2015 album Kintsugi.
The third headliner at the station’s birthday party is the Irish singer-songwriter Hozier. In fall 2014, he made his debut with a self-titled album which won him widespread critical acclaim. The album topped the Irish Albums Chart while peaking among the Top 5 on the UK Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200. Since then, he has added two EPs and five singles to his discography. Three of these singles charted among the Top 5 on the Irish Singles Chart including the multiplatinum single “Take Me to Church.” After his 2015 Grammy Awards performance with Annie Lennox, Hozier is all set to rock the Radio 104.5’s 8th Birthday Show.
