Victor Wooten comes form a family of musicians and was initially better known as the youngest of the famous five Wooten Brothers, Rudy, Joseph, Roy and Regi, all of whom are professional musicians. Victor was taught by Regi when he was only two years old, so that by the time he turned six he could already play before crowds alongside his brothers in a family band called The Wooten Brothers. While with them he also got to tour with Curtis Mayfield, among other artists. When his family relocated on the east side, the brothers continued to make good use of their talent. His brothers started a residency at the Busch Gardens, and when Victor was asked if he could learn to play the fiddle with them, he complied right away, adding a new instrument to their repertoire. Some of his best known solo pieces include A Show of Hands, Yin-Yang, What Did He Say, Soul Circus, Live in America and Palmystery, while his work with the Bela Flecka band includes Live Art, Left to Cool, Little Worlds, The Hidden Land, Outbound, UFo Tofu, Rocket Science, Jingle All the Way and Ten From Little Woods.
Today, Victor Wooten is most frequently seen performing on the Fodera basses and has one of their signature models. His most well-known Fodera is a 1983 Monarch Deluxe that he called his number one, and which has the bridge of Kahler Tremolo System model. The Yin Yang basses by Fedora have been co-designed as well as created by Wooten and famously features the Yin Yang symbol that the artist uses amply in media. The symbol serves to provide a focal point to the top’s construction and design, and is made from only two pieces of some naturally finished wood such as Holly and Ebony for example. These are fitted together to become the Yin Yang pattern.
