Charleston City Paper, while commenting on one of Grace Potter’s performances, had this to say: "It is rare to see a performer with such power over a crowd. She captured and held everyone’s attention all night with every lusty howl, every devastating smile, every sway of the hips drawing us closer until nothing existed but her and the anticipation of what she might do next." Potter is a lead singer of an American rock band, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, which sings folk, blues, roots and hard rock. The band, in addition to Potter, presently consists of Matt Burr (drums), Scott Tournet (guitar, including slide guitar), Catherine Popper (bass guitar and vocals) and Benny Yurco (electric guitar and vocals). Potter herself plays almost everything; Hammond B3, electric and acoustic guitars, Fender Rhodes and Wurlitzer Electric Piano.
