Frank Sinatra Jr is a New Jersey native who was born to the world’s most renowned singer, Frank Sinatra. He wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps and wanted to pursue a career in music. Frank Sinatra Jr developed interest in becoming a piano player and a songwriter. He soon started to chase his dreams and began playing at local venues and clubs. Frank Sinatra Jr has come out with seven studio albums including, ‘Your Love For Sale,’ ‘The Sinatra Family Wish You A Merry Christmas,’ ‘Spice,’ ‘His Way!,’ ‘Its Alright,’ ‘As I Remember’ and ‘That Face!.’ His record, ‘The Sinatra Family Wish You A Merry Christmas’ was released in 1968 and was positively received by the critics with AllMusic giving it three and a half stars out of five. The album featured ten tracks out of which, Santa Claus Is Coming to Town became a major hit and sold over thirty thousand copies within twenty four hours and was covered by multiple artists. He has also put out other hit singles including, The Beach girl and the Monster, Building With a Steeple, Nothing is More Important Than Love, Calendar Girl and Too Close For Comfort among others.
Frank Sinatra Jr released his seventh album, ‘That Face!’ in 2006 through Rhino Records. The record did well and received favorable remarks from the critics as AllMusic gave it three and a half stars out of five. The album featured fourteen tracks and it included hits like, Feeling Good, And I Love You So, Walking Happy, I’m Afraid the Masquerade Is Over and The People That You Never Get to Love.
Working with other artists
Not only Frank Sinatra Jr was busy making his own records but he also collaborated with other notable artists. He has worked with names like Dora Hall, Pat Longo’s Super Big Band, Was (Not Was) and Steve Tyrell. He teamed up with Was (Not Was) on a track titled, Wedding Vows in Vegas that featured on his album, ‘What Up, Dog?.’ The record was such a massive hit that it made it to the Rolling Stones’ list of the ‘100 Greatest Albums of the 80’s.’ He also performed the track with the band on the ‘Late Night With David Letterman.’ Frank Sinatra Jr also collaborated with his father, Frank Sinatra on a song, My Kind of Town. The track was included in the album titled, ‘Duets II’ and was nominated for an Academy Award for the ‘Best Original Score.’
Making waves around the globe
Frank Sinatra Jr had always been a fan of touring and by 1968, he had already performed in forty seven states and thirty countries. He has also been a guest on a number of television shows including, ‘The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour’ with his sister, Nancy Sinatra. He has also been a host for a ten week summer replacement program for ‘The Dean Martin Show.’
