Sounds of Summer Tour 2015
The songstresses will be part of the opening acts on Dierks Bentley’s upcoming tour alongside rising country stars Kip Moore and Canaan Smith. Being the only girls in the tour, Maddie and Tae are eager to show some girl power on the stage. The girls are preparing for a stellar performance with the famous “Nuff Nuff Dance” that they always do before big shows. The stage is set at Maryland Heights, Burgettstown, Mansfield, Camden and Tampa and fans are eagerly awaiting the artists to come to their city. Packed with some fun-filled stunts like the ongoing prank wars among touring artists and the buzzed about promotional polar plunge, this blistering tour is a must-see.
In what can be described as an interesting way to initiate their career in the country music industry, Texas based Maddie and Oklahoma native Tae named their debut album “Start Here”. The album will be released on August 28 and will feature the duo’s most famous songs including “Fly” and “Girl in a Country Song”. The latter track, released in 2014, was a runaway success smashing the Country Airplay chart and reaching the top in the 23rd week of its release. Both Maddie and Tae are critical of the “bro-country” trend that dominates most country radio stations and the “Girl in a Country Song” was sung in punning hints to country ballads that objectified the fairer sex. By quoting lyrics from such country tracks, the girls spread their message of female empowerment, which is something that they strongly believe in.
For Maddie and Tae, music is a way of expressing their thoughts and emotions. The 19 year olds are inspired by the country music of the 90s and specifically the alternative country band Dixie Chicks. The girls are never shy to flaunt their casual and bubbly personalities and music is their favorite way to do that. The themes of their songs run the gamut from cheering ailing friends to telling off high school bullies. “After the Storm” was sung to console a friend who lost her father to cancer. “Sierra” was written about a real-life girl who was mean and selfish. The girls like to keep it simple so that whatever they sing resonates with their listeners. Their single “Fly” focused on the duo’s hard work and determination to build a career in music.
