Darius Rucker is an American singer-songwriter and musician. He was born in 1966 and raised in Charleston, South Carolina by his single mom along with his four siblings. He was brought up like a typical southern African American. Singing was his dream from the very childhood. His dream came true when he started off his career as a part of the rock band named as “Hootie & the Blowfish”. He was the lead singer as well as the rhythm guitarist of the band since 1986. He earned much of the initial recognition and fame from that band.

The band Hootie & the Blowfish released five studio albums and was quite known in the music industry. The band came into the picture when Rucker met his fellow members while he was studying at the University of South Carolina and decided to come up with their own music band. He contributed a lot in making the band one of the best. Most of the songs were also written by him. He wrote some of the songs based on his own life. These include two songs that he wrote when his mother passed away, titled as “Not Even The Tears” and “I am Goin’ Home”. He also wrote a song “Where Were You” on his father. Eventually the band came to an end and Rucker started off his solo career in the year 2002. He emerged as a country music artist and signed the contract with Capitol Records Nashville. He is still producing some of his best work and his solo career is on the rise.  

His first solo album was released by the Hidden Beach Recordings in July 2002 named as “Back to Then”. It reached the top ten at the US Music Charts. Then the second album was released by the Capitol Nashville named as “Learn to Live”. The album was certified as platinum and reached at  number one in the US Country chart. The three singles from this album “Alright”, “It Won’t Be Like This For Long” and “Don’t think I Don’t Think About It” reached the number one chart position at the US Hot Country Songs. “History in Making” was another hit single from this album which peaked at number 3.

The third and most recent album by Rucker, named as “Charleston, SC 1966” is due to be released in November 2010 by the Capitol Nashville. The song titled as “Come Back Song” is a single from this album which topped the US Chart at number one. Other charted songs include “Candy Cane Christmas” and “Winter Wonderland”. Rucker is a fan of Miami Dolphins and has got its logo tattooed on his body. Rucker has made an appearance on the pop star edition of the quiz show “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”. He was also a part of the TV Commercial of Burger King in which he sang a jingle as well. He is going to make an appearance at the 44^th Country Music Awards.
