The group members initially, used to work for the Senate before they gave up their jobs to become full time standup comedians, who like to ridicule the people they used to work for. During these gatherings, they would ridicule their bosses, the senate and generally the entire government and its policies. They acts have become tremendously successful over the years and they have gathered much appreciation and recognition because of their quality humor. The first notable achievement that came their way in the form of an award was in 2006 when they won their first WUSA A-List for Best Comedy Club Award. They have recorded and released more than thirty two comedy albums which have been fairly successful.

Capitol Steps is a group of humorists that was formed in 1981 when Senator Charles Percy’s staffers were planning for their Christmas Party.  They wanted to perform a play on nativity but were unable to spot three men who were wise and a woman who was a virgin among the Senate members.
