The American rock band, Widespread Panic will be performing at the 1st Bank Center in Denver, Colorado. The performing arts venue is expected to be sold out as the popular band of the 80s’ returns from their hiatus. Widespread Panic is an Athens based southern and blues rock band that first performed in 1986. The foundations of the group were laid in 1981 when Michael Houser and John Bell became friends during their time at the University of Georgia. The two started practicing music and in 1985 when drummer Todd Nance and bassist Dave Schools joined them Widespread Panic was formed. The name of the group was taken from Houser’s panic attacks. The debut performance by the band took place at a local charity event.

It was in 1991 that the rock band signed a contract with a record label. The band’s self-titled debut album was released in the same year and soon Widespread Panic began touring. They made a name for themselves in the music industry and since then have grown to earn elite status. So far the six member ensemble has released 10 studio albums, 7 live records and a compilation album. Their most recent album, ‘Dirty Slide Down’ came out in 2010. The record made its way to the top 30 of the US Billboard 200.
