Three Doors Down
Beginnings of a successful career
Originally formed in 1996, the band's starting lineup consisted of three members, hence their title Three Doors Down. Featuring Brad Arnold on vocals and drums, Matt Roberts on guitar and Todd Harrell on bass, the band started playing shows around Mississippi. They were soon joined by guitarist Chris Henderson and drummer Richard Liles both of whom played for the band during their first album’s support tour. After several lineup changes over the years, their current lineup features only Arnold and Henderson from their earliest incarnations.
The band’s debut studio effort, The Better Life, came out in 2000. The album featured eleven singles, three of which reached the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album was certified six times platinum, selling over six million records worldwide and becoming the group's top-selling album to date. Three Doors Down released the album under the label of Republic Records to which they are still signed.
Rocking the Billboard charts
The rock act has featured consistently on the Billboard charts throughout their career. With their very first studio effort, the band created waves on the charts when the album peaked at seventh place on the Billboard 200. It was mostly propelled by the success of the breakthrough single “Kryptonite” and another popular single, “Loser.” The former song peaked at third place on the Billboard Hot 100 while both singles topped the Mainstream Rock chart.
The group's sophomore effort, Away From the Sun, also made its way into the top ten on the Billboard 200. It featured another Mainstream Rock chart-topper, “When I'm Gone.” Their two subsequent albums achieved incredible success as well, both ranking at first place on the Billboard 200. Courtesy of their Billboard success, Three Doors Down became one of the hottest alternative rock bands around.
