The popular, ambitious, and vain Glinda gets to share her dorm room with the green-skinned yet smart Elphaba, whose purpose of enrollment is to care for her wheelchair-bound half-sister Nessarose. The duo slowly develops a lasting bond, but do argue head-on on opinions over the Wizard’s corrupt government, and shared love interest.

Three times each Grammy and Oscar winner Stephen Schwartz brings the magic of past scores like Pocahontas and Enchanted to Wicked while providing music and lyrics. The book is by Winnie Holzman, with Joe Mantello directing. Wicked premiered in October 2003 at Gershwin Theater.
