The hit musical is scheduled to take over the Hippodrome Theatre at the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center from February 12, 2020 to March 8, 2020. The current revival stars Hannah Corneau, Ginna Claire Mason and Michael McCormick in the lead roles. Joe Mantello, a winner of multiple Tony Awards as well as the Drama Desk Awards, is in the director’s chair.

Wicked to Play Multiple Early Spring Shows at the Hippodrome Theatre

Wicked started its current run at the famed theater on February 12, 2020 and will conclude it on March 8, 2020. Sold out shows have so far been a regular feature of this stint which includes double headers on Saturdays and Sundays.

Opened in 1914, the Hippodrome Theatre at the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center can seat up to 2,300 people. It was Baltimore’s preeminent vaudeville house and movie theater at the time. Since then, it has undergone major changes and continues to be a place of prominence in the world of performing arts.

Over the years, the Hippodrome Theatre’s stage has been graced by some of the most talented acts ever. These include the likes of Milton Berle, The Three Stooges, Benny Goodman, Frank Sinatra, Morey Amsterdam and the Andrews Sisters among others.  

Wicked: Salient Features of the Hit Musical

The New York Times called it “Broadway’s Biggest Blockbuster” while Variety considers it “A Cultural Phenomenon.” The original Broadway production of Wicked was nominated for 10 Tony Awards in 2004, ultimately winning 3 of them. The show also won multiple Drama Desk Awards, Outer Critics Circle Awards and the Broadway.com Audience Awards.

To date, Wicked is one of only three Broadway musicals to have crossed the $1 billion mark in total revenue. The Lion King and The Phantom of the Opera are the other two.
