Music and cast members
Ring Of Fire showcases more than thirty songs from Johnny Cash’s extensive songbook. There are several lovely country-western tunes that many of his dedicated fans will easily recognize. Songs from the show include “In the Sweet Bye and Bye,” “Daddy Sang Bass,” “I Walk the Line,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” and the cast’s encore number “A Boy named Sue.”
Kent Lewis performs brilliantly in the lead role. The talented actor/singer has co-starred in the Las Vegas production of “Mamma Mia” and toured the country for “Billy Elliot.”
Michael Goodman plays Cash’s younger self and has previously performed in “Million Dollar Quartet.” Cory Goodrich splendidly portrays June Carter Cash playing songs like “Jackson”, the comedic “Flushed from the Bathroom of Your Heart” and “I’ve Been Everywhere.”
The show’s instrumental ensemble features multitalented musician Austin Cook, the talented fiddle, mandolin and guitar player Greg Hirte, and the energetic drummer and percussionist Billy Shaffer.
Devoted fans of Cash will find much to enjoy in this musical. Though the show features a limited narrative, the collection of music will be enough to keep audiences entertained throughout.
