Following its England run, this classic Shakespearean play will get an exciting new life in its American premiere with production by Kenneth Branagh and Rob Ashford. Actor-producer, Kenneth Branagh is making his New York debut with the play and it will also be his first role in a Shakespearean story in more than a decade. He will be starring as Macbeth, alongside Alex Kingston, who is also making her New York debut and taking up the role of Lady Macbeth.

Branagh earned appreciation for his stage performances in the UK and won a SWET Award in the “Newcomer” category. He then landed several stage roles and received more acclaim. Apart from being seen on stage, Kenneth has also appeared in movies and is known for his roles in the film adaptations of Shakespeare’s plays, including Henry V, Much Ado About Nothing, Hamlet, Love's Labour's Lost and As You Like It. Some non-Shakespeare movies in which Kenneth Branagh has starred include, Dead Again and Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.

William Shakespeare’s Macbeth is the story about a Scottish general called Macbeth. He receives a forecast from three witches that he will soon become the King of Scotland. He then goes on to make plans and murders the king of the time. Macbeth is most probably one of the darkest tragedies of Shakespeare that have been brought to life in a powerful and intense way.
