About Hamilton

Hamilton is a musical about the life of Alexander Hamilton, with music from Lin-Manuel Miranda. The storyline is inspired by the 2004 biography of Alexander Hamilton by the historian Ron Chernow. This musical is unique because of the incorporation of a multitude of musical styles – hip-hop, blues, pop, soul and traditional show tunes. Hamilton first opened on Broadway in August 2015 and has since been one of the most beloved musicals around, winning countless awards and accolades.

Hamilton has been a phenomenally successful musical since it premiered on Broadway. In 2016, it won an impressive 11 Tony Awards, including the one for the "Best Musical." The musical also bagged a Grammy Award for the "Best Musical Theater Album" and got a Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2016. The West End production of the musical was also equally successful, winning seven Olivier Awards in 2018, including that for the "Best New Musical."
