The story

Daniel Tiger is a red hoodie wearing young tiger that lives in a magical place known as the ‘Neighborhood of Make-Believe.’ His favorite pastime is spending time with his friends also living in the area, which includes Katerina Kittycat, O the Owl, Prince Wednesday and many more. They get into several adventures almost every other episode and also learn some important life lessons, like dealing with tragedy or the benefits of being nice to other people. They sometimes reinforce these lessons through songs. There are now two albums too, called “Big Feelings” and “Life's Little Lessons.” All in all the show has continued the great traditions set by Fred Rogers and it has been an effective learning tool for children all around the world.

The blue sneakers

Fred Rogers was born in 1928 and learned to play the piano when he was only five years old. He got his degree in Music Composition in 1951 and went on to join a television network for his first job, as he was intrigued by the potential of the medium itself. After working in several different jobs, he finally got work as a puppeteer and a voice actor on the popular show called ‘The Children’s Corner.’ Here he created some of the timeless characters that children around the country would come to love in the future.

The Children’s Corner led to several more opportunities, but eventually networks realized that Rogers’ talents could be better utilized in front of the camera, rather than behind it. Soon after, the CBC Television Network created ‘Misterogers,’ a show for children featuring Rogers in a lead role. The show was later renamed ‘Misterogers' Neighborhood,’ which was further amended to ‘Mister Rogers' Neighborhood’ in 1970.

The show goes on

‘Mister Rogers' Neighborhood’ taught children many things during its thirty three year run and now ‘Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood’ is continuing that tradition into the future. This animated series brings to life some of the best characters from the original show, along with their offspring, relatives and friends.
