St Louis Blues is a popular NHL franchise that has emerged as the champion in the Central Division eight times, the last time during the 2011 to 2012 season. Named after a song of the same name by W. C. Handy, it is one of the toughest franchises in the NHL and was formed in 1967 as one of original expansion teams when the NHL expanded from its original six teams.  

Till yet, around seventeen of the franchise's players have been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame; Doug Gilmour was inducted in 2011, Adam Oates in 2012 and Brendan Shanahan in 2013. They have also won the Presidents' Trophy, the Clarence S. Campbell Bowl twice, the Bill Masterton Trophy twice, the Calder Memorial Trophy, the Conn Smythe Tropy, the Frank J. Selke Trophy, the Hart Memorial Trophy twice, the Jack Adams Award four times, the James Norris Memorial Trophy twice and the King Clancy Memorial Trophy.

The St Louis Blues have also won the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy three times, the NHL Plus/Minus Award thrice and the NHL General Manager of the Year Award once.  They are coming to Saint Paul, Minnesota for this game, a city that lies on the Mississipi River's east bank and make up the Twin Cities with Minnesota. It is the home of the Minnesota Wild, who play at the Xcel Energy Center.
