The Football team lays claim to three national titles won in 1958, 2003 and 2007. In the 2003 season they won the BCS National Championship by defeating Oklahoma by a score of twenty one to fourteen. They went on to win the 2007 BCS National Championship game as well, which made them the first team to win multiple BCS national titles since the BSC championship game was introduced. Individual Honors

There have been several American All Stars to originate from the Tigers football team. Till date twenty seven athletes have been selected from the team to feature as American All Stars. There is also a lone LSU Tiger to win the Heisman Trophy; Billy Cannon won the award in 1959 by more than nineteen hundred votes. Three players from LSU have also made it to the ‘Pro Football Hall of Fame’.
