The minor league baseball team, Lehigh Valley IronPigs is Triple-A affiliate of the Major League Baseball Team, Philadelphia Phillies. They play in the North Division of International League. The team takes its name from "pig iron" used enormously in manufacturing steel for which Lehigh Valley is renowned in the world. The team’s home-ground is Coca-Cola Park in Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania and can accommodate more than ten thousand fans for a baseball match. The team is owned by Joseph Finley and Craig Stein while Dave Brundage manages it currently.

Founded in 1993 and named as Ottawa Lynx, the team relocated to Allentown in 2007 and changed its name to IronPigs. The team won League title in 1995 and a Division Title the same year. They were affiliates of Baltimore Orioles from 2003 to 2006 and Montreal Expos till 2002.

IronPigs opened their 2008 season with a losing streak of eleven games which they eventually broke with their first win in their home stadium Coca-Cola Park, against Richmond Braves. In 2009, famous former pitchers of Philadelphia Phillies J. C. Romero and Kyle Kendrick pitched for IronPigs. In 2010-season, Triple-A All-Star Game was held in Coca-Cola Park and MLB Network broadcasted the game. The team finished the season coming fifth in the International League North Division and was ranked at top in average attendance among all Minor League Basketball teams. 2011 Season brought great luck for the team and they made their way to Governors’ Cup Finals but eventually lost to Columbus Clippers. Their regular season record turned out to be the best in their four years of games.

In 2012, Lehigh Valley IronPigs was ranked as the second most valuable Franchise in Minor League Baseball by Forbes, Sacramento River Cats of the Pacific Coast League being at top. The team has been recognized on several occasions and awarded with individual as well as team awards. Tyler Cloyd was honored as ‘International League Most valuable Pitcher’ in 2012 while manager Ryne Sandberg was awarded with ‘Baseball America Minor League Manager of the year’ award same year.
