He brought with him an equally experienced backroom staff to give the new franchise a stable platform to build from.

The club was backed by heavy investments and since it was based in New York City, it attracted a lot of attention from players all over the world. The scouting network of the franchise also worked overtime to bring in quality players that would make them a competitive team in a very short time.

One of their first major acquisitions was David Villa, an accomplished striker from Spain. Villa is a World Cup winner and brought much needed experience to the relatively young squad. The club then also managed to recruit one of the best midfielders in the history of the English Premier League, Frank Lampard.
