However, attitudes evolved and the mascots of FSU progressively adopted the correct aspects of the Florida Seminole tribe, while presenting them in a more respectful manner. The popular sports teams of the university include the basketball team, the baseball team, and particularly the football team. Ever since the addition of football to FSU's sports program in 1947, the Seminoles football team has earned increasing popularity, ultimately becoming known as a National Championship contender. To date, the team has won two national championships and twelve conference championships. This has earned the team the reputation of the leader of the ACC. Additionally, the Seminoles' baseball team is considered one of the most successful teams in the history of baseball, having made eighteen appearances in the College World Series.
