Collegiate basketball enthusiasts are in for a treat as the basketball teams from the Florida State University and Boston College will be playing head to head in 2015 and 2016.

Team Formation & Early Years

The Florida State Seminoles is the name adopted by the varsity teams from the Florida State University. The men’s basketball program from the educational institution began in 1947. With Hugh Donald Loucks as the head coach, the team struggled in its first year, compiling a season end 5-13 score. The team picked pace in the following year when J.K. Kennedy replaced Hugh as the coach. Up till his retirement in 1966, the Seminoles compiled a successful score of 234-208.

J.F. Kennedy & Pat Kennedy Era

After J.K. Kennedy left, Joe Williams led the team to accumulating a 230-95 (0.708 winning percentage) in between 1967 and 1978. The record remains the highest winning percentage gathered by any coach in the state of Florida. Success continued to knock on the Seminoles’ doors (1987 to 1997) as Pat Kennedy compiled the second highest winning score in the Seminoles’ history (202-131) and a 0.607 winning percentage.
