The basketball program of the University of Arkansas began in 1924. Even though the educational institution took its time to field its basketball team, the Razorbacks finished in first place in the Southwest Conference from 1924 to 1928. The team compiled an astounding record of 113-17 (0.869) at the end of 1930, which was the highest for any Southwest Conference team in the NCAA.

Success continued to make its way to the Razorbacks as the team dominated the conference for three more times in between 1934 and 1942.
