About The Chainsmokers

The Chainsmokers were formed as an EDM DJ duo in New York City in 2012. Drew Taggart wasn’t there at first and it was a duo consisting of Alex Pall and DJ Rhett Bixler. Adam Alpert was their manager. It was Alpert who would introduce Taggart to Pall. The two at the time were university students with Pall at New York University and Taggart at Syracuse University. Once Bixler left, Taggart replaced him. The duo immediately got on to making remixes of indie bands.

The Journey to Stardom

Unlike many other DJs, The Chainsmokers got noticed earlier in their career. In 2013, “#Selfie” was released by Dim Mak Records and later streamed it to Republic Records. The song became famous all over the world, becoming a top twenty single in many countries. The success of this one song was such that Pall would describe it as “life-changing” for the duo. Pall and Taggart released a few more songs after “#Selfie” and signed up with Disruptor Records.

In October 2015, the pair released their debut EP, Bouquet. It had five tracks, out of which three tracks namely “Closer,” “Don’t Let Me Down” and “Roses” did exceptionally well. “Roses” reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, “Closer” topped the same chart, while “Don’t Let Me Down” won the Grammy for Best Dance Recording. Encouraged by the success of their debut EP, the pair released their second EP the following year.

Collage is the pair’s second EP, which was released in 2016. This EP, too, had five tracks, most of them previously released singles. The EP debuted at No.6 position on the Billboard 200. It charted at the very top of the US Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart.

Memories: Do Not Open

This will be the name of their upcoming debut studio album, which will be released by Columbia/Disruptor Records. They kept the news hush hush till Coldplay tweeted about it and when asked Taggart said "We're ready. We've got a full album; it's going to be amazing. It's coming out April 7, was I supposed to say that?"

The Pair on Tour

Once Memories: Do Not Open releases, the duo will tour the country, making stops at 40 different venues. Memories Do Not Open Tour is promised to be a unique experience for the lovers of electro house, EDM, future bass, trap and progressive house music.
