About Toni Braxton

 
Toni Braxton was born on 7th October, 1966. Her love with music started when she started singing choirs in a local church with her sisters. Together they started getting some success on the local talent competition scene. Her big break came when she was discovered singing to herself at a gas station by the famous songwriter William E. Pettaway Jr. Toni and her sisters formed a group called The Braxtons and their talents earned them an agreement with Artista Records.
 
The Braxtons released their first song Good Life in 1990 which caught the attention of Kenneth Edmonds and Antonio”L.A.” Reid. Toni Braxton was hired by the duo to record Love Shoulda Brought You Home which was to be soundtrack of the movie Boomerang. The song turned out to be a big hit so she was signed by Edmonds and Reid to their LaFace Records. The excitement towards Toni’s first release was building up quite nicely and when she released her eponymous debut album in 1993 that excitement turned into a rage. It contained table topping songs like Another Sad Love Song, Breathe Again, You Mean the World to Me and Seven Whole Days etc. The success of the album brought her way three Grammy awards and a couple of American Music Awards. Toni Braxton sold over eight million copies in the U.S. alone coupled with over sales of over ten million copies around the world.
 
Toni Braxton had well and truly arrived and her reputation ensured fans bought Toni Braxton tickets to sell-out every venue where she performed. She took her reputation up a notch with the release of her second album Secrets in 1996.  The first track of the album You’re Makin Me High shot to the top of various charts. The song is also the second biggest hit by a female in history. Secrets became Toni Braxton’s second straight eight million copies seller and was certified eight times platinum by the RIAA. It also a whooping sold over fifteen million copies around the world.
 
Toni followed that up with the release of a song He Wasn’t Man Enough from her next album The Heat. The song was another big hit and went to the top spots on various charts. The album itself was major success that sold around one hundred and ninety five thousand copies in its first week alone. The Heat in total sold over three million copies all over the world and got certified two times platinum by the RIAA.
 
Apart from her singing Toni has also headlined the Flamingo Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Her performance was titled Toni Braxton: Revealed which was to be showcased six days a week. Just like her albums, the show turned out to be a huge hit as well and Toni Braxton became the first African American artist to have a top ten Las Vegas performing show.
