Three-time Grammy Award winner Jill Scott has achieved quite a lot of fame both as an actress and a musician. She stepped into the music industry back in 1999, and made her big screen debut in 2007 when she acted in the movie Houddog. Later on she also played a role in a movie titled Why Did I Get Married?. Later that year, Scott signed her first record deal with Hidden Beach Recordings, as its first artist. After scoring her first record deal, she debuted with her album “Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1. The album surfaced in 2000, and with it, Scott managed to receive mediocre amount of exposure and national popularity. Her single “A Long Walk”, received considerable recognition, and later on she received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Female Vocal Performance in 2003. Although she wasn’t able to claim the award, but she did so in 2005 when she received a Grammy Award for “Cross My Mind” for the category of Best Urban/Alternative R&B Performance. Scott released her second studio album in 2004 titled Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds Vol. 2 and prior to that she also released Experience: Jill Scott 826+, a Live Album.
Following the release of her second studio album, Scott kept on collaborating with several other notable musicians, until she finally came up with her follow up studio release titled “The Real Thing: Words and Sounds Vol. 3”. The album hit the music stores on September 25, 2007 and contained her hit single “Hate on Me”. The single gained considerable popularity after getting massive airplay. Scott’s second Live Album surfaced the shelves in 2008 titled Live in Paris+. The album comprised of eight songs that she performed live in Europe during her Big Beautiful Tour. Also in 2008, one of her singles “Whenever You’re Around” rose to mediocre amount of success. After the release of The Real Thing, Jill Scott has been working on her follow up studio album titled “The Light of the Sun”. The songs on the album will be featuring emotional poetry by Scott, as she handles both her fame and personal life altogether.
However as of the moment, Jill Scott is scheduled to embark on a 17-city tour in support of her recent studio release “The Light of the Sun”.
