The Go Gos began as a punk rock band, highly active in the local Los Angeles scene, and played at venues such as the Whisky A Go Go and The Masque. With time, the band soon shifted to a more power pop sound from punk rock roots, blending the two create a pop rock sound. They then began to work on a demo, recorded at Gold Star Studios in 1979. In 1980, they performed with Madness during the British band’s American tour in Los Angeles and in England.
