About Patrick Wolf

Patrick Wolf belongs to South London. He was born as Patrick Denis Apps in 1983. Wolf was into music from an early age and started his training on piano. After some time he got bored with it and took up violin as his favorite instrument. By the age of twelve he was able to record songs on violin in his own voice on a tape recorder. He was studying in his A levels but left school and went on to work in a clothing store. During this time he was able to form a string quartet named Maison Crimineaux.
While Wolf was performing with this quartet in Paris that he was spotted by renowned electronic music artist Capitol K. Capitol K got quite impressed with the talent of Wolf and went on to release Patrick’s  debut album Lycanthropy. During a career that spans over a decade Patrick Wolf has been associated with a number of recording labels such as Tomlab, Loog, Faith & Industry, Bloody Chamber Music and Mercury Records. Wolf can fluently play instruments like viola, violin, piano and ukulele. His music is a blend of genres like alternative rock, baroque pop, indietronica and folktronica.
Patrick Wolf has six studio albums, four EP’s  and thirteen singles to his credit. His debut album Lycanthropy was released in 2003 and this was followed by two more fine releases namely Wind in the Wires in 2005 and The Magic Position in 2007. The Magic Position was the first album of Wolf that entered the UK and US charts. It landed at #46 in UK and #42 on US Top Heatseekers. In 2009 The Bachelor went on sale in the music stores. This album also managed to enter the UK charts at #49. Lupercalia was released by Mercury Records in 2011 and this was the first album to hit the Austrian charts at #47 and it also landed #37 on UK charts. After a gap of hardly one year Wolf was able to release his sixth album named Sundark and Riverlight.
His charted singles include “The Libertine”, “Wind in the Wires”, “Accident & Emergency”, “The Magic Position”, Hard Times” and “Time of My Life”. Wolf has performed with other artists like The Hidden Cameras, Arcade Fire, Chicks on Speed and Owen Pallett. A number of artists have collaborated with Wolf on his albums such Edward Larrikin and Marianne Faithfull. He did cover song Army Dreamers originally sung by Kate Bush. He also collaborated on the album Nights at the Circus by Bishi. Wolf was a guest vocalist on the single by Larrikin Love named “On Sussex downs”. Wolf has toured various countries like Australia, Japan, Europe and North America. Apart from music he has worked with a number of famous dress designers in London Fashion Week as a model.
