Two-time Brit Award winner Ed Sheeran was born to English and Irish parents and is cousin to Gordon Burns, a famous TV presenter and journalist. At a young age, he learned how to play the guitar and began songwriting while studying at the Thomas Mills High School. He grew up listening to Van Morrison, particularly when travelling with his parents to London and even attended a concert starring Damien Rice held in Ireland at the age of eleven. In 2005, he set off to make history when he released his first EP titled as The Orange Room EP. In 2006, he released a self-titled album and followed this up with 2007’s Want Some. In 2008, he moved to London where he began performing live at many venue. He also auditioned for roles on TV such as Britannia High, an ITV series and opened for the band Nizlopi during their Norwich concert in 2008 after having worked for them as a guitar technician. He was then instantly signed onto the record label Atlantic Records and appeared on Later…with Jools Holland, performing his first hit single, The A Team which went on to ranked third on the UK Singles chart and sold more than fifty eight thousand copies in its first week of release.

Ed Sheeran’s debut single became not only the Best Selling Debut Single in 2011 but also the eighth Best Selling Single of 2011, selling more than eight hundred thousand copies.
