About The Official Blues Brothers Revue

The Blues Brothers as the name implies is a blues band that was founded by two comedian/actor friends John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd. The forming of this unusual soul revivalist band took place in 1978 in New York City. Initially both Aykroyd and Belushi formed it as a musical sketch, to perform on one of the episodes of Saturday Night Live in 1978. The main genre selected was blue-eyed soul and blues. The sketch for the show was written in such as way that showcased two main blues musicians Aykroyd being the backing singer and harmonica player Elwood J Blues, while Belushi being the lead singer named Joliet Jake Blues. This debut episode of Blues Brothers on Saturday Night Live was hosted by acclaimed comedian and actor Steve Martin. For this performance these two were supported by a group of expert musicians. The band’s performance received favorable reviews and in the same year The Blues Brothers managed to release a studio album titled Briefcase Full of Blues. This album was an instant hit and topped the Billboard charts. Apart from Jake and Elwood Blues the original lineup consisted of musicians like lead guitarist Steve The Colonel Cropper, drummer Willie Hall, Saxophone player Lou Blue Marini, keyboardist and arranger Paul The Shiv Shaffer and trombone player Birch Crimson Slide Johnson.
The Blues Brothers in their career have released eleven studio, two live and one compilation album. Apart from their debut album three more albums managed to hit the charts namely The Blues Brother Music from the Sound Track (#13), Made in America (#49) and Best of Blues Brothers (#143). In 1980 a movie of The Blues Brothers band was released, the movie title was also The Blues Brothers and it was directed by John Landis. The movie was a hit and till date remains among the top fifteen highest grossing musical films in history.
The official Blues Brothers Revue as evident from the name is an exciting theatrical musical show that has literally captured the hearts of fans. The melodious revue is produced by none other but Dan Aykroyd himself and Judith Belushi. The stage revue has been directed and written by Judith Belushi Kieron Lafferty and Wayne Catania.
