About Ramon Ayala
Ramón Ayala‘s career as a musician spreads over a period of forty years. He is a musician who writes and composes songs, as well as, plays the guitar, bajosexto, and the accordion. Called the “The King of Accordion “he has invented the Conjunto music, and transformed the old uninteresting music of Norteno into a brighter version, which has made it more appealing to a larger group of music lovers .He has recorded 105 Albums altogether.
Born to a famous musician Ramon Corbarrubias, he was six years old when he started playing the accordion, encouraged by his parents and family.
Ramón Ayala as a young boy has had the experience of working with bands like
Los Jilgueros De Marin, and
Los Pavorreales. In the early sixty’s as a teenager, he shifted to Reynosa Northern Mexico, where he came into contact with Cornelio Reyna, a vocalist, who played the guitar and the bajosexto.Both of them met at a Cantina called EL Cadillac. It was from here they got together and formed their band called
Los Relampagos Del Norte. Together they created music that reached out and loud to the extent that even the younger generation enjoyed it, especially
Ya No Llores in the year 1963.
Ramón Ayala and Cornelio Reyna recorded twenty Albums with classics such as
El Disguisto Devdistion Mitesore, and of course
Tango Meido. Soon Cornelio Reyna left the duo band for reinventing himself into Mariachi genre in 1971.

Ayala again formed a new band with Antonio Sauceda, and named it
Ramon Ayala Y Sus Bravos Del Norte.SoonAntonio also left and was replaced by Eliseo Robles. Ramon and Eliseo became partners, they enlivened the lyrics and created high standards for Norteno music like
Un Rinconcito En El Cielo, and
Chapara de Mi Amor hits. These hits brought them peak sales in Mexico and the US.
For the fourth time, he replaced the lead singer Eliseo Robles in the mid-80s, with Antonio Coronado. Antonio also left soon after recording eight albums. For the fifth time Ramon inducted a new singer to his band named Mario Marichalas .Mario was innovative and modern and knew exactly what the new and younger generation wanted. Mario Marichalas, changed the style of the band, and the band was selected for quite a few Grammy Awards.
Apart from winning four Grammy Award, he was also awarded the American Grammy Awards in 2001 for his song
En Vivo- EL Hombre Y Su Musica .He was selected for two Latin Grammy Awards for
Los Ajos and
