About Gaelic Storm

Based in Santa Monica, Gaelic Storm came together in 1996. The idea of the formation of the band came when Brian Wash and Steve Twigger gave a collaborated performance with two other artists, Patrick Murphy and Steve Whemeyer at the notable Santa Monica venue, O’Brien Irish Pub and Restaurant. It was at this pub that Murphy worked as an acting manager. After this first performance, the band came together for various performances at many different pubs and clubs of the city. Finally, they decided to form a band of their own that was named Gaelic Storm. After the making of the band, it featured in the film Titanic as a steerage band. There they performed on “An Irish Party in Third Class.” .This gave the band the much needed recognition. Soon they were touring widely throughout the US, UK, Canada, Japan and France which contributed to their  popularity and success.
To this day, Gaelic Storm has kept the tradition of touring alive and plays live at different destinations. The band has changed it fiddle player many times over the course of its history. Their current fiddle player is Kiana, who joined the band in 2012 and has been touring with them since her joining. Since its inception, Gaelic Storm has released a total of nine studio albums including one compilation, “Special Reserve.” Notable for their perfect mesh of Scottish traditional music with traditional Irish music, Gaelic Storm is a name behind some of the finest songs in the history of Celtic rock. The band’s albums have repeatedly managed to be on the top of the Billboard charts. The first album of the band “Gaelic Storm” came out in the stores in 1998. Their next two albums; “Herding Cats” and “Trees” were released in 1999 and 2001 respectively.
Next was the compilation album, after which the fifth album “How Are We Getting Home?” hit the stores in 2004. This album debuted at number three on the World Music Charts of billboard and embraced the tenth position on Heatseekers Charts. To top it off, it re-entered the World Music Charts in 2005 and again made it to the number three position. In 2006, Gaelic Storm released their sixth album “Bring Yer Wellies” which was more successful than the previous one and climbed at number two on the World Music Charts. This album also did a record business online.
The seventh and eighth album, titled "What's the Rumpus?" and “Cabbage” reached it fans in 2008 and 2012 respectively. “What's the Rumpus?" released on the Gaelic Storm’s own label named Lost Again Records and made it to number one on the World Charts of Billboard. The band’s latest album “Chicken Boxer” released in 2012 and again landed at number one on the Billboard charts.
Gaelic Storm has been touring widely across the world since their first appearance in Titanic. The band tours aggressively for around 200 days every year, bringing its fans to their feet with their energetic live musicianship.
