Jackson was born in the small town of Newnan, Georgia in 1958. He started out in a local country music band as a teenager, and kept his passion alive through a spell of odd-jobs. His first big break came when his wife handed over a demo tape to country music star Glen Campbell, and Campbell's record company decided to try out this young star.
