About Brooklyn Rider Tickets

Brooklyn Rider has quickly become a beloved act on public radios all over the country. NPR has often featured their music on some of their most popular programs like All Things Considered, All Songs Considered, Tiny Desk Concerts, Deceptive Cadence, Performance Today (American Public Media) and Soundcheck. Their music has been finding airtime on a variety of commercial radio stations all over the country, from jazz and classical to pop and world music.  Their successful country wide tours were very well-received. The ensemble’s performance in China and Hong Kong is a testament to their growing international influence. Further indication of their growing popularity is the recent European tour with Persian kamancheh master Kalhor, as well as performances in some of the most prestigious occasions and venues across the country. With its acclaimed collaboration with Kayhan Kalhor, the band was able to give one of the top Albums of the decade! The Carnegie hall, the Lincoln Center, the Washington Performing Arts Society (D.C.) and the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament have hosted their best shows. In short, this act is all set for great things and a most successful career.
Violinists Johnny Gandelsman, Colin Jacobsen Nicholas Cords and cellist Eric Jacobsen are the fabulous four that make up Brooklyn Rider. The quartet's name is partially borrowed from the early twentieth century German ensemble, The Blue Rider (Der Blaue Reiter in German). The Blue Rider was a group of artists who became the first ones to collaborate across diverse mediums of expressions. Brooklyn Rider has followed Der Blaue Reiter’s novel idea, and has setup an online art gallery. This gallery is used to display the portfolios of up and coming artists (often friends of the quartet.
Brooklyn Rider is loved for the freshness and variety in their music. Their contemporary style, fusion of genres and reinterpreted classic works has contributed some of the best string quartet compositions. Their music carries modern & multicultural influences.  They have partnered with some of the great modern composers like Yanov-Yanovsky, Lisa Bielawa, Ljova, Osvaldo Golijov and Derek Bermel. They have also produced some thrilling work by partnering with artists like the Syrian visualist Kevork Mourad, Kojiro Umezaki (Japanese shakuhachi player), Wu Man Irish (the Chinese pipa) and Christina Courtin. Another example of their constant creativity is the NY orchestra, The Knights. Founded by members of the quartet, all the members play for it.
Based out Brooklyn the group has roots in the local community. It also supports educational and local socio-cultural initiatives. An example of this effort is when the Rider encouraged up and coming local acts the when they started the Stillwater Music Festival back in 2006. They have been involved with many university music programs and were granted residencies at prestigious colleges such as Dartmouth College, Harvard University,  University of North Caroline, Texas A&M University, Williams College, Denison University and MacPhail Center for the Arts. Members of Brooklyn Rider have also been involved with many local and international museums over the years.  They were granted residency at the American Natural History Museum (New York), the Art Institute of Chicago as well as the Rubin Museum of Himalayan Art. More international museum collaborations include the Reitberg in Zurich, and Nara National Museum (Japan).
Many critics point out that perhaps the Jacobsen brothers are in fact the creative back bone of the group. In fact all four dip into the creative atmosphere that exists in Brooklyn. Brooklyn is no doubt the most multicultural, vital and artistic borough in New York City.  The quartet has absorbed the culture in their music so well that at times been called an offshoot of the Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road Ensemble. This is because Brooklyn Rider's members were part of it since the start. Constant experimentation with string quartet compositions has given their music a distinct sound. Their live side is also a flavorsome treat. Watch them live in action with Brooklyn Rider tickets. Cheap Brooklyn Rider tickets are also available. Buy them ASAP.
