About Rise Against A Day To Remember

Rise Against is basically a punk rock band. It was formed in Chicago Illinois in 1999. Its current members include Tim McIlrath who is the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, Joe Principe at bass guitar and also background vocals, Brandon Barnes who is the group’s main drummer and percussionist and lastly Zach Blair who is the lead guitarist and performs backing vocals. For the first five years, the band worked with an independent recording company, Fat Wreck Chords. During this time, they released two albums titled The Unraveling in 2001 and Revolutions per Minute in 2003. Both of them were successful in the underground music scene. After the release of the second album, they got signed to a major recording label called Geffen of the Universal Music Group. Rise Against rose to fame with their third album, Siren Song of the Counter Culture which was released in 2004. RIAA gave it gold certification. It featured on the Billboard 200. Their subsequent two albums, The Sufferer & the Witness released in 2006 and Appeal to Reason released two years later, were equally successful with gold certification and tenth and third position on Billboard 200 respectively. All three went platinum in Canada. They recently completed the recording of their sixth studio album. It is called Endgame. It was released in March, 2011. They will be promoting this album on the Rise Against & A Day to Remember tour.

Let us shed light on the second performers of the touring group of Rise Against & A Day to Remember. A Day to Remember is a rock band that hails from Ocala in Florida. It was formed in 2003 by Bobby Scruggs, a drummer, and Tom Denny, a guitarist. They used to play in different groups that were active in the music scene in Ocala but finally decided to form a group of their own. Other musicians who joined the band were Jeremy McKinnon as the lead vocalist, Neil Westfall, also a guitarist and Joshua Woodard as the main bassist. Later Bobby Scruggs and Tom Denny left the band and they were replaced by Alex Shelnut and Kevin Skaffs respectively. They signed with Indianola Records and released their first album And Their Name Was Treason in 2005. This album did not do so well but the band’s concerts showed a growing popularity.
Soon after, they signed with Victory Records. Their first album with this label, For Those Who Have Heart was released in 2007. It was an instant success and reached seventeenth position of Billboard’s Top Heatseekers chart. They were also nominated for the Kerang! Award in the category of “Best International Newcomer”. Their third album Homesick was released in 2009. It peaked at the top spot on Top Independent Albums. Their most recent album is What Separates Me from You. It was released in the later part of 2010. It peaked at number eleven on the US charts and grabbed the top spot on US Indie charts. You will hear songs from this album like "All Signs Point to Lauderdale", "Better Off This Way" and "It's Complicated" at the Rise Against & A Day to Remember shows.

Both the bands have toured extensively around the world. They have been part of sold-out shows. They have also been performing in the Van Warped Tour for quite a few years now. This time they are getting together on the Rise Against & A Day to Remember tour which is going to be energetic and very exhilarating. It will begin with a concert in Austin, Texas and will end with a show in Fairfax, VA. They will be supported by another band, the Mezingers. Glassjaw will accompany them on one of the concerts.

But on the whole, it will be Rise Against as the main act and A Day to Remember as the opening act.
