About Electric Six

Electric Six consisted of Anthony Selph, Tyler Spencer, Steve Nawara, Corty Martin and Joe Frezza when it was formed. Till the day, Spencer remains the backbone of the band. In 2003, the band released Danger! High Voltage which turned out to be their breakthrough hit, especially within the United Kingdom. Late that year, the band released its debut album titled “Fire.” The album also received critical acclaim and this time their debut track made it to the UK Singles Chart at number two. The album was also listed in a number of 2003’s best albums lists, including the “Top Ten” UK Album Chart.
Three of the band members left Electric Six after the release of their debut album. However, the remaining members embarked on a tour with inclusion of new band members. In the beginning to 2004, the band performed at the “Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.” Second studio album by the band was released in February of 2005 by the name “Senor Smoke.” The album was released with the record label Metropolis Records. A little controversy was faced by the band on their title track Radio Ga Ga, a cover of Queen. The controversy was regarding the video the song.
In the November of 2005, Electric Six released “Switzerland,” their third studio album. Keith Thompson, a bassist from Sweden was included in the band in the beginning of 2006. Later that year, in October of 2007, “I Shall Exterminate Everything around Me That Restricts Me from Being the Master” was released. The album included sixteen songs and was released in the United Kingdom a few weeks later, managing to find success once again. The album specifically found fame over the internet with many downloads.
Electric Six embarked on the “Hitting the Walls and Working the Middle Tour” after the release of “Flashy and Sexy Trash” in the October of 2008. Earlier in 2010, the band’s website announced that the band was working hard on their seventh studio album. It was also mentioned that the band is working on a long anticipated cover, which turned out to be The Spinner’s The Rubberband Man. Later in September that year, the album was finally released, and it included twelve songs.
Electric Six uploaded five previews of their upcoming album on their Facebook page in June of 2011. The album “Heartbeats and Brainwaves” was released later the same year in October. The band plans to release its very first live album named “Absolute Pleasure” in the fall of 2012. They have also announced the release of a live version of their debut album “Fire” on DVD. In the summer of 2012, their lead singer Spencer also released his solo project named “Destroy the Children” under the name Dick Valentine.
Electric Six mix a variety of genres in their music. Initially, the band’s style was more of a punk rock, as of 2010; their genre has taken a more “darker” tone, Heartbeats and Brainwaves being an example.
