Calexico Tickets

The alternative country music band, Calexico is all set with its tour and will soon be performing in your city. Calexico tickets have started selling fast and will give you a chance to experience some great moments at the live event. Those who know about the band’s popularity must get their tickets as soon as possible before they sell out due to high public demand. Calexico was formed in 1990, by Joe Burns and John Convertino. The group members met in California, played their early music there and later moved to Arizona in 1994. The current line-up of the band consists of Joey Burns who plays the guitar, cello, bass and also provides vocals. John Convertino is the drummer and pianist of the group. Paul Niehaus is the steel guitarist, Jacob Valenzuela plays trumpet, vibraphone and is also the vocalist. Martin Wenk plays trumpet, keyboard, accordion, guitar, and glockenspiel. He occasionally plays French horn and harmonica as well. Volker Zander is electric bass and stand up bass player. John Convertino and Joey Burns played together for the first time in a band called Giant Sand, in LA. It was a rock music ensemble. The musical style of Calexico is influenced by the established Latin sounds of cumbia, conjunto, mariachi, as well as the American country music of Southwest. The group has been described as indie rock and desert noir.

About Calexico

 
In 1996, the band recorded Spoke and sold limited 2,000 copies. Burns and Convertino came together with Lisa Germano and Gelb to release an album The Black Light in 1998. The record highlighted the concept of Northern Mexico and Arizona’s desert. It received excellent feedback and one of the Wall Street Journal critics rated it as among the year’s best album. The band released an album, Hot Rail in 1999 and has been regularly coming up with new records. Feat of Fire hit the shelves in 2000, Garden Ruin came out in 2006, in 2008 Calexico released Carried To Dust. It features some guest musicians that include Wine and Iron. After the album was released, Calexico began touring extensively around the country. Circo was a soundtrack that was released in 2010. Another soundtrack The Guard came out in 2011. Algiers was released in 2012. One of the band’s EPs In The Reins was released in 2005 and reached number 135 on the Billboard charts. Few of the other EPs released by the band are Descamino in 2000, Balled Of Cable Hogue (2000), Even My Sure Things Fall Through in 2001, and many more. The profile of the ensemble was built by touring with other music groups like The Dirty Tree, Lambchop, and Pavemen, as their support acts. Calexico has frequently played in festivals like All Tomorrow's Parties, The Hurricane and Bonnaroo Music Festival. The musical approach of the group is equally eclectic and wild, ranging from Jackie Mittoo to The Boswell Sisters. As the year 2000 ended, Calexico collaborated with Thomas Belhom and Naim Amor, so as to record ‘Tete a Tete’ which was to be released in 2001. A live album, named Scraping was released in 2002. They featured the track "Güero Canelo", from their record Feast of Wire, in a movie called Collateral, by Michael Mann, starring Jamie Foxx and Tom Cruise.
