The idea of forming Outkast came up when the members were still in high school. They hit the music scene with the release of the album, “Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik”. The band then released back to back albums in 1996, 1998 and 2000; “ATLiens”, “Aquemini” and “Stankonia”, all these albums earned critical and commercial acclaim. In 2003, the band released the famous double album, “Speakerboxx/The Love Below”. Two numbers from this record, The Way You Move and Hey Ya! scored the number one spot on the music charts. The album also bagged a Grammy Award for the “Album of the Year”. Not only this, it was certified Diamond in the United States and eight million units were sold all over the world.

With all these accolades and recognitions, it can be said that Outkast is definitely one of the most prominent hip-hop groups of all time. Some of the band’s best numbers to date include, Ms. Jackson, So Fresh, So Clean, Rosa Parks, Prototype, Elevators and Roses. The group has even released a movie soundtrack, “Idlewild”.
