Born in October 1979, Shaffer Chimere Smith, famously known as Ne-Yo is a Grammy winning R&B recording artist, dancer and actor who has earned the Hal David Starlight Award of the Songwriter's Hall of Fame. In September 2008, Ne-Yo released his third studio album, Year of the Gentleman that has received platinum certification by the RIAA as well as a double platinum certification by the British Phonographic Industry. The album has opened at number two on the Billboard 200 chart and received seven Grammy nominations since its release. The hit singles of the album include Mad, Closer and Miss Independent. In November 2010, Ne-Yo released his fourth studio album, Libra Scale that peaked at number nine on the Billboard 200 chart. The album opened to favorable reviews and sold over one hundred and twelve thousand copies in the first week. Some of the successful singles of the album include Champagne Life, Beautiful Monster and One in a Million.

In November 2012, the brilliant artist released his fifth studio album, R.E.D. Its lead single, Let Me Love You, peaked at number one on the UK Singles Chart and sold nearly ninety thousand copies in the first week.
