The View is a fantabulous band that has awed countless thousands with its mind blowing music and made a name for themselves as one of the best in their genre. This band hails from Dundee within Scotland and is a spectacular indie rock band whose music is also sometimes termed as post punk revival. The View has been active since its debut back in 2005 and are presently signed onto the major record label, 1965 Records, a subsidiary of Sony BMG/Columbia records. This awesome band is made up of a talented lineup of rockstars and plays some of the most amazing indie rock; in the world of indie rock, this band’s live performances are regarded as some of the very best and regularly attract huge crowds whenever the band is on tour or performing live. In fact, if you are a fan of The View or want to catch some superb indie rock music live, all you need are The View Tickets in your pockets and that’s pretty much it!
This awesome Scottish indie rock outfit makes use of various musical styles including alternative rock, punk, pop punk, pop, folk, powerpop and acoustic within their music resulting in a sound that is unique to the band and a genre of its own. Presently signed onto the record label, 1965 Records, The View released their first song, Wasted Little Djs back in 2006. This awesome debut singles ranked at the top of the MTV Two/NME music charts as well as ranking at the top of the UK Singles Chart at the same time; a phenomenal achievement for a band’s first single. Soon after, in 2007, The View released their first album titled as Hats Off to the Buskers which ranked first on the UK Album Chart in just a week after its release as well as received a Mercury Music Prize award nomination the same year.
The View has a rich history behind it. This fabulous band was formed back in 2005 when the band was still in high school as a cover band, playing versions of songs by the Sex Pistols and Squeeze. Three of the band members studied at St John’s RC High School whereas the drummer was a student at HarrisAcademy. In just a short time, the band was performing their own original songs locally at several talent contests. They soon became a local sensation and started performing live as well as touring to many venues. After performing at a local hot spot, the band was signed onto the record label, Two Thumbs, releasing the first album, The View EP in 2006. The View also recorded a demo album which was then made available online alongwith some music videos.
Music by this superb attention reached the ears of three BBC Radio 1 presenters and one BBC Radio 2 presenter who then gave the band a lot of radio airplay way before the band reached the top spot on the charts after releasing their album. Their performance of the debut single, Wasted Little DJs, was even aired live on BBC Radio 1 on Zane Lowe’s show alongside famous bands like Be Your Own Pet and The Kooks. The first EP also received a lot of airplay on BBC Radio as well as on other radio stations. The band then started work on their first album, Hats Off to the Buskers. While working on this amazing album, bandmember Kieren Webster, bassist and co-writer, was ranked sixth on the NME Cool Top 50 List in 2006. The album was soon released at the start of 2007 and within a week it has ranked first on the UK Album Chart and become a massive hit. The View then went on to perform at several venues live as well as going on tour; this included the NME Awards Tour alongside bands like The Horrors and The Automatic.
The song Wasted Little Djs also received the Best Track of the Year Award in the NME Awards held in 2007. The second single, Superstar Tradesman ranked at the of the UK Singles Chart and so did the third, Same Jeans, ranking third on the UK Singles Chart. In 2009, The View released the album Which Bitch?, an album that debuted at number four on the UK Albums Charts. In 2011, the band was back again with the sensational album Bread and Circuses which also very successful and a sensational hit in the UK and the US as well. The View have also headlined on many tours; their first was a national UK tour as the headliner as well as on the MTV Two Gonzo Tour. This superb has also toured in Japan, in the US and many other parts of the world. Upcoming show will be staged at San Jose McEnery Convention Center, San Jose; whereas the last one will be held at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center, Las Vegas.
