Michael Flatley – The Ultimate Dancer

Michael Flatley is credited for singlehandedly changing traditional Irish dancing. His interest in dancing developed at the age of eleven and he soon began to work on his craft. Six years later, he was declared as the first American to win the All-World Championship in Irish dancing. By 1990s, Flatley had developed a pretty solid reputation as a step-dancer and received his big break when he performed in an Irish dance and music festival, Spirit of Mayo. His performance at the festival caught the eye of Irish President, Mary Robinson who asked him to work on an intermission show for the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest. So he helped create, Riverdance which became a hit. From there, he went on to receive more global success.

Lord of the Dance

Michael Flatley created his own show, Lord of the Dance which premiered at the Point Theatre in Dublin on July 26, 1986. The story of the show revolves around the lead character, Lord of the Dance as he fights Don Dorcha, the evil dark lord, to stop him from taking over Planet Ireland.
