Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Tickets

Date & Time

With the participation of over 20,000 schools and proletarian theatre groups, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat has been one of the most powerful theatrical performances ever organized. With the basic theme from the Bible of Hebrews, this is the second effort by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's team to produce the legendary theatrical show.

This story of Joseph has been based on "Coat of Many Colors," a 15-minute cantata presented at Colet Court School in London dating back to 1968. After much adaptation and changes to the basic story line, the show was produced at the West End and Broadway, in addition to their initial performances at local churches. The second performance given at Westminster Central Hall, the format was elaborated as it had immense potential for extension. Although the musical has very little dialogue, it is almost completely sung.

Bearing the flag of the Young Vic Theatre Company in 1972, Joseph was performed at the much-acclaimed Edinburgh International Festival. Later, in 1974, the complete album of the musical was released by the MCA label. To this day, this is the oldest commercially available album in the market. The show had the honor of being performed at the Royal Theatre on Broadway in 1982. The show gained popularity as it ran for 749 times. As the recording was released, it was for the first time that the show had a prologue.

With such immaculate performance, the musical gained a Tony Award, in addition to nominations for the Best Musical and Best Original Score categories. The same year, Joseph had a world premiere in Venezuela in Spanish, thus gaining huge applause with an elaborated orchestra and 35 musicians. In 2007, the musical was revived with a big bang. A show was arranged for the search of Joseph for the upcoming performance. With huge liking and more than 3 million votes from the viewers, Lee Mead, a 25-year-old, was rated as the deserving one to be Joseph. With immense public following, the musical had three months advance sale of the tickets, thus giving revenue of almost 10 million pounds. Out of this huge sale, a noteworthy amount was given as charity to BBC's Children in Need charity.

In the beginning of 2009, Mead left and was replaced with Gareth Gates, thus ending the production by mid-2009. The musical is a reference to Joseph's story as presented in the Book of Genesis, where Jacob and his twelve sons are introduced. Joseph had superiority over his brothers because of his coat, which created a bond between Jacob and Joseph. Joseph had dreams which portrayed his dominance over others, and this made his brothers resent him. Thus, a plan of assassination was plotted against him. The brothers eventually sold him to the Ishmaelites, who took him to Egypt, while at home they made up the story of Joseph's death and displayed his tattered coat to Jacob to make it seem real. On the other hand, Joseph was raised from the rank of servant and slave to running Potiphar's house. Even there, he was blamed by Mrs. Potiphar and so Joseph was jailed. Even there, his popularity grew as his skill of interpreting dreams won him a name. Eventually, the King had some wacky dreams which no one could successfully interpret. Thus, Joseph was nominated for interpretation, as his reputation forced the King to pursue him. The narrator talks about the various changes that came into Joseph's life and how they changed his life due to his unmatched skill of interpreting dreams and their transformation into reality. What were the King's dreams and how Joseph interpreted them is an exciting venture which can be enjoyed as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat unveils scene after scene. Revive your poetic vibe and cherish this timeless musical that won Tony Awards and Olivier Awards for its unmatched performances.
