Broadway in Grand Rapids has announced a month-long production of Hamilton. The national tour will stop at the DeVos Performance Hall on January 21 and the run is stretched till February 9, 2020. The demand is expected to rise for Devos Hall Hamilton tickets even though up to 24 performances have been announced. A musical for all ages, Hamilton is the story of America’s founding father Alexander Hamilton but how it’s presented is the creative brilliance of Lin-Manuel Miranda. Minimal dialogues, more singing and rapping and superb choreography, these are the elements that make Hamilton a record-breaking, blockbuster musical.

Hamilton Heads Out on National Tour

No, the Hamilton fever is not going down anytime soon! In fact, the smash-hit musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda continues to break attendance and sales records in theaters across the country. The Hamilton Tour will be stopping in different cities and in some, the musical will be making its debut. Hamilton is set for a 24-day run at the DeVos Performance Hall and the DeVos Hall Hamilton tickets sales have already started.

Anything but a dry historical lesson, Hamilton tells its story through infectious rapping, infusing upbeat genres like jazz, hip-hop and R&B. Hailed as an amalgamation of old meets new, colonial and millennia, the musical follows the rise and fall of Alexander Hamilton.

Creator Lin-Manuel Miranda got the idea for musical while he was on vacation and reading Alexander Hamilton’s biography by Ron Chernow. According to Miranda, the musical is partly inspired by the critically acclaimed Les Miserables as it too highlights human experiences and the evil in the society. Why it continues to hit home with the people? Miranda believes it’s because Hamilton is not uplifting and sunny – it strikes a universal chord with the bitter realities of life.

It took Lin-Manuel Miranda almost two years to ready Hamilton for presentation and his very first audiences were at The White House. In 2009, he was invited to perform at an evening of Poetry, Music and the Spoken Word by the Obama administration and his hip-hop version of Alexander Hamilton’s life earned him a standing ovation. It’s that very performance that sealed the deal for the award-winning playwright and is taking the musical to newer heights of popularity.
