Dancing with the Stars is one of the most-viewed television dancing competition shows. It debuted on the ABC television network in the summer of 2005 and has since been adapted internationally in many countries, with the British version Strictly Come Dancing and the American version stealing the limelight. Since 2005, the American Dancing with the Stars has completed nineteen successful seasons and crowned nineteen couples as the winners. The latest season was won by celebrity star Alfonso Ribeiro and his dancing partner Witney Carson. The competition is now in its twentieth season, which began in spring 2015. The popular show is being hosted in major arenas across the United States, so grab Dancing with the Stars tickets and enjoy some of the finest dance sequences live on stage!
According to the format of the competition, it features eleven to thirteen celebrities as the ‘stars’, with the exception of the debut season, which had only six. These stars are then paired off with a professional dancer who instructs and performs with the ‘star’ throughout the season’s run. One couple is eliminated each week until the top three remain. They compete with one another for the winning title and the runner-up title. The dance competition is world-renowned for featuring some of the most popular dancing styles, from jazz to flamenco, salsa to rumba, fox trot to Argentine tango, and freestyle to contemporary.
The latest season of the show was the nineteenth season, which premiered in fall 2014. It featured thirteen stars. Pretty Little Liars actress Janel Parrish, along with her partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy, landed in third place. The runner-up couple for the season was reality TV star Sadie Robertson and her dancing trainer Mark Ballas.
The show was won by Alfonso Ribeiro, who played Carlton Banks on the renowned NBC sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alongside good friend Will Smith. His other notable appearances include starring in the titular role of the Broadway musical The Tap Dance Kid and playing Alfonso Spears in the sitcom Silver Spoons. He has also hosted the television shows Catch 21 and Spell-Mageddon.
His dancing partner was Witney Carson, who was participating in her fourth season of the competition. Carson was added to the dancing troupe in Dancing with the Stars for seasons sixteen and seventeen. However, for her remarkable work, she was promoted to be a professional dancer in the next two seasons. In season eighteen, she was paired up with Cody Simpson and in the latest season she was coupled with Alfonso Ribeiro, with whom she went on to win the competition. The last three competitive dances for the couple were jive dancing on “3-6-9,” freestyle dancing on “Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing)” and the season-winning Argentine tango and cha-cha-cha fusion on “Shut Up and Dance.”
Dancing with the Stars is bringing the celebrity dancers and their dance trainers for various shows in major cities in the US, such as Niagara Falls, Verona, Atlanta, Orlando, Red Bank, and others. The list of arenas that will host the famous dancing competition includes the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre, Count Basie Theatre, Horseshoe Casino, Turning Stone Resort and Casino, and Seneca Niagara Events Center, to name a few.
