Annie, the musical, has been penned down by Thomas Meehan. The lyrics for the musical are written by Martin Charnin and the music has been composed by Charles Strouse.
The show follows the story of Annie, who is an orphan at Miss Hannigan’s orphanage. She was left there as a baby so she never knew her parents. Her yearning to meet them results in failed attempts at running away from the orphanage. For Christmas, she is sent to Mr. Oliver Warbucks’ mansion. Mr. Warbucks, being a billionaire, promises to help Annie in finding her parents. He announces a reward over the airwaves for Annie’s parents to show up and claim her. But this act attracts cons and impostors from all across the states. During this quest, Mr. Warbucks forms a close bond with Annie. What follows is a tale of acceptance, understanding and unconditional love.
In 2012, Annie was once again revived for Broadway and is now on its national tour around the US. The touring cast consists of actors Issie Swickle, Lynn Andrews, Gilgamesh Taggett, Ashley Edler, Garrett Deagon and many others. The show has not only retained the magic of the original production, but has improved upon it.
Hit songs like “Tomorrow,” “Little Girls,” “You Make Me Happy,” “Something Was Missing” and the famed “It’s the Hard Knock Life” will ensure the audience has a memorable evening at the show. So grab Annie Denver tickets and enjoy the show at the Buell Theater.
