In Laing Burns, Jr. words, 'Success often comes to those who have the aptitude to see way down the road' and it is this aptitude that motivates and encourages you to see far and beyond. Such relentless courage and unmatched vigor can be witnessed in a talented American punk rock band, Green Day. The evident proof of their hard work can be witnessed in their world acclaimed work, American Idiot, which is reminiscent of their talent and creativity. The Seventh Studio album came in the market on 21st September 2004 under the banner of Reprise Records, bringing few more feathers of achievement to a long term collaborator and producer Rob Cavallo.

The success story dates back to mid 2003 when Green Day was busy in recording songs for their album Cigarettes and Valentines and found the master tracks devoid of energy and click that may entice the listeners. The band members thought of reviewing them and thus agreed upon spending some more time to produce new material for the album. Eventually American Idiot turned out to be the first creation by Green Day. Grabbing the inspiration from concept records by The Who, the band brought forth a musical masterpiece that outdid many. This all initiated as the band members tried to leave each other behind by creating little half-minute bits. After creating two suites, Armstrong was clicked by the idea of crafting an album long conceptual piece. The Green Day experienced such an aura around them during the recordings of American Idiot that Armstrong described it as, 'For the first time, we separated from our pasts, from how we were supposed to behave as Green Day. For the first time, we fully accepted the fact that we're rock stars.'

American Idiot was the proof of the fact that Green Day gave away their signature way of music composition and produced and entirely new theme. This concept album has the pivotal character named Jesus of Suburbia who is described by Armstrong as an anti-hero, who despises his own town and also those around him which results in his departure from his vicinity. With the progression in the album, the characters St. Jimmy and Whatsername emerge as punk rock freedom fighter and Mother Revolution. The predominant theme of love vs. rage is symbolically portrayed by these characters.

Being one of its kind, the album was rated very well upon its release in 2004 as it peaked Billboard 200 album charts. Gaining much acclaim world over, the album brought a stellar career to the band by attaining eight platinum status in Canada, six platinum in United Kingdom and five platinum status in United States. The New York Times and Entertainment Weekly were all full of praise and described their songs as having a critical eye on the lyrics. By gaining the Grammy in 2005 for Best Rock Album, American Idiot turned out to be a shining star for its competitors.

Shortly after the release of the album, the word spread in the air that the band is further working of the production of the film based on their conceptual album, American Idiot. Although by June 2006, Armstrong remarked in affirmative for the film production idea but later on by summer of 2010, Tre Cool claimed it as a true mystery.

In September 2009, Green Day took another initiative by collaborating with director Michael Mayer. At the Berkeley Repertory Theatre, the American Idiot musical adaptation was premiered. The show featured all the songs from the album American Idiot, with a few songs from Green Day's upcoming album, 21st Century Breakdown. The excitement for the fans must be over now as Armstrong displayed his talent of acting in the Broadway production as St. Jimmy in September-October 2010. Acting for the very first time, Armstrong joined the costars on stage at the conclusion of the play where he rocked the night with the charismatic performance on band?s hit track 'Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).' After the performance at Broadway, Armstrong will be joining Green Day for their South American Tour as a lot of warmth and gracious hospitality is waiting upon his arrival.

American Idiot can be evaluated at various levels as a classic example of a thought-provoking piece of literature. For all its grandiosity, American Idiot keeps its mood and method deliberately and tenaciously on point. By 2004 the music was full of meaning but flashing sloganeers who openly spoke against the government as an ultimately flat stage. Green Day has pondered much deeper here by not just railing against the political climate, but also by working hard to display how that climate has negatively influenced the American culture. It would not be wrong to state that American Idiot screams at us to do something or at least anything. It acts as a wake-up call.

American Idiot is the story of three lifelong friends, stuck between the options of dreams and the safety of suburbia. Striving to search for a purposeful life let us all experience the most exhilarating journey of the season. With The New York Times claiming 'thrilling and emotionally charged, American Idiot Tickets should be a must-buy this season to excite the acoustic senses while experiencing life at close quarters.
