As the curtain is raised, the audience is taken to Athens, to the court of Duke Theseus, where the play begins by introducing a man, Egeus, and his daughter, Hermia. Egeus wants her to marry Demetrius, but she does not agree with her father's decision and has fallen for the poet Lysander instead. Helpless to his daughter's wishes, Egeus takes the case to the Duke with the intention of seeking guidance and help. Duke Theseus reminds Hermia that her father has all the right to take decisions for her, and if she does not agree to it, the only option left for her is to become a nun and never marry. Keeping this in view, Hermia runs away from Athens into the woods with her lover Lysander. The twist in the story sets in at this point when both of them run into Hermia's best friend, Helena. Hermia loves Demetrius and longs for him to follow her so that their lives are trouble-free. Other than them, the fairies in the woods are also having a tough time. The king of the fairies, Oberon, is not happy with his queen, Titania, since she is taking care of a boy that Oberon wanted as his servant. He then decides to play a trick on her and asks for the support of his helper, Puck. He finds a magical flower and decides to use it on Titania. Meanwhile, the lovers from Athens are still trying to run away, and Helena is urging Demetrius to marry her. The king of the fairies feels sorry for Helena and decides to use the magical flower on Demetrius as well. As soon as the magic fills the air, the story becomes a comedy. Will the lovers from Athens get to live their dreams, or will Hermia end up with the man of her father's choice? The magic begins from the world of the fairies and spreads in the woods. Several new characters are introduced in the story that keeps the audience engaged throughout the show. You can only get the answers to all these questions by being a part of it.
