Atlanta has opera in its roots. The earlier exposure to this mesmerizing genre of music was during early 1900s, when a week long Metropolitan Opera tour landed in Atlanta. The tour performed at Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center, Fox Theatre and Auditorium-Armory, and by the end, it had become a major event of the week. Atlanta Opera Chorus performed in Paris’ Opera Comique in 2008, in production of Porgy and Bess. That same year, Huff celebrated two decades with the company. By 2009, Opera’s audiences were noted to have increased sixty percent after the completion of two seasons in the new avenue, Cobb Energy Center.
