The professional basketball team Washington Wizards has been playing since 1961. The Wizards were originally based in Chicago and were named Chicago Packers. Back then, it was among the first few modern expansion teams of the NBA. Playing as the Packers for three seasons, the franchise relocated to Baltimore to become Baltimore Bullets. The name was taken from the Bullets’ team that played in Baltimore from 1940 to 1950.
