Football Rivalry With Ole Miss
One of the most famous rivalries in collegiate football is the rivalry between the Ole Miss Rebels and Commodores football teams. The rivalry is the second longest, continuous in collegiate football. Both schools were founding members of the Southeastern Conference and their close proximity to each other meant they became annual division rivals. The first meeting between the teams took place in 1894 while their latest meeting took place in September 2015.
Ole Miss leads the current series between the two schools 50-38, with 2 draws. Ole Miss is also on a three game winning streak, so it will be interesting to see how the Commodores play when they visit the daunting Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
National Championships
The Commodores have won three national championships so far. The team won its first championship in women’s bowling in 2007. They won their first men’s championship in 2014 in baseball after winning the 2014 College World Series. The team won their third title in 2015 in women’s tennis. So things certainly seem to be looking up for the Commodores.
