The Vanderbilt University has been around for over a hundred years. However it was only recently that its athletics department, the Commodores, started becoming competitive. Over the past few years they have slowly been building up quiet a reputation for themselves. They are the only major school to have an independent department for sports and this has helped their sports teams flourish in NCAA Division I.
Making a Change
The Commodores have been a part of Division I college sports for quite a long time but have only recently started to reach the heights that were always expected of them. Their name was selected by the student body and takes its inspiration from the nickname given to Cornelius Vanderbilt, the founder of the university. He was called Commodore which was a name given to a naval officer. That itself became the inspiration behind the clothes worn by the college mascot.
Sky is the Limit
The Commodores have enjoyed remarkable success in sports over the last few years. This is different from their performances prior to the change in structure and has helped them win all three of their national titles to date.
They have won national championships in three different sports. One came in men's baseball in 2014, while the other two arrived in women's bowling and tennis, in 2007 and 2015 respectively. They will not be looking to build on this momentum and reach the next level. This is your chance to book Vanderbilt Commodores Knoxville tickets to watch this flourishing athletics program live.
